does this expansion pack require the original game to run or is it standalone like se4 Gold? It might be worthwhile for those of us lucky enough not to have bought the original.

six things to click on, no description of the game. can't remember if that one had contact number's or email's. actually, forgetting to describe the game is a bigger problem than you might think. often enough i've had to go to the fan sites to find out what something is about. and you'd think describing a game would be an OBVIOUS step.

oh look, i'm ranting.

I've bought the SimCity 4 Deluxe package for 50$ and have been quite satisfied by it. I find the gameplay just as fun as the other games in the series, and the Rush Hour features are really cool - new highways, roads, rails, and the ability to cruise around your streets etc. is quite fun.

Of course, I'm running a bit of a higher end system, so I cannot comment much on performance.

I think the website is fine, although sometimes information that seems obvious is a bit hard to find.

What kinds of problems are you having?

I really like Rush Hour. I do agree, the website is lacking and slow to load. Of course, a game description for the SC series is well, kinda unnecesary for many.
Anyhow, I hope that you can get your game running better than it has Atrocities. SC4 was fun before, but RH rocks.

Being unecessary for many is irrelevant. It is bad business to not describe your product, period.

It's funny this popped up, about 3 hours ago I was in the wal-mart across town looking at games and I was gonna buy Simcity 4 until I heard someone freaking out and berating a customer service rep about being ripped off in buying the game.

I feel sorry for that wal-mart employee, but i got the hell out of that department as fast as I could and left that game there. I was terrified about what he would say if he saw someone holding it!

Ok so I go out this morning and buy the Delux addition as the stores around here want as much for the Delux as they do for just the expansion pack.

I come back, install the game on the HP POS and go to www.simcity4.com to registar the game. I registar the game, filled out the form, and clicked I AGREE. A message pops up saying that a confirmation EMAIL was just sent and I need to acknowlege it before my account will be activated and I can access the features on the web site.

That was at 10 this morning. It is now nearly 10 pm and I have still not received an email.

I did the smart thing and took a screen capture of the form after I filled it out just in case something should happen. The Email address was correct, both times, so I should have received a confirmation email.

Nope. So I click on HELP and it directs me to the EA web site. That site is utterly useless for the problem I am having.

So I go back to www.simcity4.com and try to reregistar and guess what? My game serial number has already been registared and I can not use it for a new registration. So I try to log in. I get a nice message telling that I need to respond to the confirmation email that was sent to me. What confirmation email? I have yet to receive one. Normally such confirmation emails take only a few moments to be sent out. Not days.

If ever there was something that I would want to see blown up, it would be the Maxis web site.
