Re: Microsoft, Opera, and PBW
Thanks all for the advice. I tried FireFox, it's nice, very similar to OPera, but I really didn't like the way it dealt with a few things, especially downloads and tabs (if it could be set to automatically open new bookmarks into *seperate* tabs, then I might have stuck with it, but I usually cycle through 20-30 bookmarks regularly, and having to "right-clik to open into seperate tabbed window" was too much of a pain).
And, Opera really does have a better layout I think.
So, in the end, I purged Opera, reinstalled it, and I can once again easily download turns from PBW! woo hoo!
thanks again,
Alarik

Re: Microsoft, Opera, and PBW
I switched to Mozilla about six months ago, and changed to Thunderbird for my mail client. They work MUCH better than IE or Outlook.

You can bookmark a whole set of tabs, this might help. Sometimes, I too miss ctrl-click on a bookmark, but ctrl+T (opening a new empty tab) and bookmark clicking is not that much more effort.

Re: Microsoft, Opera, and PBW
Is thunderbird substantially better than Eudora? I find Eudora to be pretty good, but haven't really shopped around enough to have an educated opinion...

Re: Microsoft, Opera, and PBW
Get the Tabbrowser Extensions plugin. Firefox (shudders at new name) is all about modularity and custom plugins that change how it works.

Re: Microsoft, Opera, and PBW
And Thunderbird is safer than Oh No Virus Installer.
However I'd say Pegasus Mail is the best free Windows mail client.
Mozilla and Firefox are great with Tabbrowser Extensions and Mousegestures ( http://extensionroom.mozdev.org) and the Firebird-only Flash Click-to-Play is also very nice.
One thing to consider when trying Firefox however: the newly-named Version 0.8 is much different from Firebird 0.7 and you may find you like the older one better. They changed a lot with 0.8 and it needs time to mature.
Mozilla proper, of course, hasn't changed much in look and feel in a long time and 1.6 is yet another good Version. They've more than made up for the disaster of 1.4
