You can turn off team damage, and most servers had that turned off. However, the other team would have players swap sides and then destroy our equipment and defenses then swap back. Once that was discovered a kick ban was incorperated for that.

Then they switched tactics and voted to kick off the other teams best players. I don't know how many times I was voted out of a game by my own team mates because someone on the other team called me a team killer and voted to kick me.

After that they just started cheating out right. Then we discovered that the Kindread were using custom coded cheats in the shifter mod and all hell broke loose. When T2 came out many hard core players gave up on T1.

But Kick ban was awsome.
