Confused newbie needs help

I downloaded all the patches from the site and tried all the data files, but I always get the same problem.

I have Version 1.5.1 if that helps. (I know, I'm not exactly a hacker. Sorry if I sound really dumb here)

I think he's talking about the Version of SE4. The latest patch is v1.91 and a lot of mods at least use features added from the Last one which was v1.84.

I have SE4 Gold.
Where do you get the newer Versions of the patch? I thought that 1.5.1 was the latest.

1.5.1 is probably the Version of your mod, not the game itself. Each modder tends to track mod Versions. Anyways, make sure you have patch 4 at the above site. You can upgrade any Version of se4 gold . If you have SE4 Classic (or non-Gold) you cannot upgrade past v1.49 and most of the newer mods will be unavailable to you.

edit: ok, re-read your post, you do have Gold.
