Re: OT: Your Favorite Book Series
I like the 'Myth Adventures' series by Robert Asprin, as well as his Phule's series. I have a ton of Forgotten Realms and DragonLance novels. I also like the 'Star of the Guardian' series by Margaret Weis. An one other series that I have read several times, the 'Guardians of the flame' series by Joel Rosenberg.
I haven't bought any books recently, reading has become too expensive a hobby for me nowadays. ($12 for pocketbooks is outragoius)
So, I read the Posts here in the forums for my literary needs. And it's interactive to boot.

I know what you mean, David. I usually buy paperbacks, but unless you buy them at Wal-Mart or K-Mart, you're talking $8 or so for a new book. I don't like paying $6, but it's cheaper than $8. Lately, I've been checking out this used book store near where I work. I've got most of the Honor Harrington books now, and I'm slowly building up on my Robert Jordan series also. But I've joined the Sci-Fi book club, and sometimes can get a good deal on hardback books I don't want to wait a year or so for certain books, like the Star Wars books. But the postage can kill you sometimes.

Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame has been a fun read so far.

Great set of books. Haven't read any of his other stuff, though. One of these day....

Re: OT: Your Favorite Book Series
I've really really enjoyed the "StarFire" inspired series of books by Dave Weber and Steve White (Crusade, Insurrection, In Death Ground and The Shiva Option). They're probably the best stories I've ever read of epic space combat.
I've read those books so often they've gotten quite tattered and I'm due for a new good read.
Can anyone suggest to me a book or series of books with similar epic space combat or with an "SE4-like galactic empires at war" kind of feel?

Re: OT: Your Favorite Book Series
Try "The Fleet" series mostly by David Drake. Six books, then two "Battlestation" books. They have kind of a SEIV/Starfire feel. Some stories are about ground pounders, but some are of ship battles too.

Try the Baen free library, http://www.baen.com/library/ under David Weber
And the Baen webscriptions, which you can get in downloadable text format, if you so wish: www.webscription.net
