Actually you can tell. A few months ago I joined a game. The host used something to check my IP address. I was a bit aghast at all the information he had on me but of course the information shows what computer you play from. If two supposed players have the same info then someone is cheating.

I thouhgt about that, but the main problem with that is that the players will get system maps and I kind of want half the game to be "find your other half" if we can make a maze type warp map it will make it even better. when the player manages to find his other self they can then surender one to the other to help keep micro management down.

looks like we might eather do it PBEM or do as geo sugested and used something obvios like

Intimidator: what Mod do you vote for?

im still hesatent over eather of those, adamant doesent quite have the right feel to it, though I am leaning towards that one as I prefer the plannet combat.
I thought of using proportions but its probibly a little to slow...

still need someone good at makeing/editing Maps if the worst comes to the worst I will try to do it myself (though from past experiance I found it verry frustraiting) and be host/god

Again my point : If all game-members agree I do not see the problem why we shouldn't use more userid's

Why not proportions, I think it is suited for your game proposal. And yes it is slower but much more realism........

But if not proportions I will go for Devnull.

Actually you can trace the IP back and find the rout to each one, compare them and then find a common ISP being used to determine a cheater. (Only way the ISP will tell if it is a cheater is if it is a small time ISP, otherwise there are thousands of Verizon, etc out there)

Granted it is alot of work but you can find cheaters if you are willing to do the work.
