On the sound issue, I believe aldin meant to turn the sound off using a command-line switch when you start the program. I don't know what that switch is offhand but it should be in the game docs, or maybe posted on this forum.
EDIT: I just found it on the Dominions X site: the switch is --nosound
|
Where do I type that in? Right click on shortcut for Dom2 demo and choose properties.
Click on Shortcut tab.
Type --nosound at the end of the field called Target after this: "C:\Program Files\dominions2demo\dom2demo.exe".
Click OK.
Then double-click on the shortcut.

Re: 2 Technical Questions
"--nosound" didn´t work. Any other suggestions?
PC in question is an AMD Athlon, Windows 98, Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro, 32MB.

Re: 2 Technical Questions
CoffeeDragon,
What type of crash do you have ? Exit to desktop ? BSOD ? Comp frozen ?
And when does it happen ? Playing on strat map ? Combat replay ?
Did you try unistall/clen HD/reinstall ?
What graphix drivers and DX Version do you use ?

Re: 2 Technical Questions
Try the following:
1) Use "dom2.exe -smfwx --res 800 600"
Even if it doesn't work, leave it this way.
2) Make shure to use a OpenGL-capable driver.
Check the readme/website docs for details. Not every ATI driver can run OpenGL apps, and even those that are supposed to aren't necessarily very good at it.
I run DOM2 on the the machine I write this on, and it's using a Rage XL chip. It does run, but performace is very poor, despite C-600 and 384 MB.
3) Run DxDiag, post the info here.

Should I have an idea or something, what OpenGL is?
And my friend is much less computer-literate than I, so that bodes ill for my multi-playing with him.
