Yes it hurts your own undead.
Yes it could kill a lot of small undead troops.
But is uneffective against anything good. But if you're against an Ermor or Pan Cw, or C'tis DT ... it could be very useful, even revert the war, admitted you've forces to launch a counter offensive.
