 I have just run a test where I killed thirty vessels or so, and did not gain any point of ship experience. It was not against units or fleet experience, which would be quite different. |

 |  It all depends on how it is implemented.  Perhaps the Last ship to hit it with a DF weapon is recorded, and then XP is dished out when the ship dies.

 |  Only the killing stroke. One ship could hit the target with 12 shots, then a second ship hits it once and finishes it. The second ship gets the 1 experience point, the first ship gets nothing. Killing ships only gives ship experience in full 1% increments.
