Try to do an uninstall and then install the game from the CD again. Just deleting the proper folders might not be enough.

This post might help:
Check if this "C:\DOCUME~1\Chris\LOCALS~1\Temp/dom16882" directory exists. If it does (it shouldn't) you can delete it and try again.
Edit: Doh! Trouble finding the right URL...

That was it Deccan -- but Shrapnel tech support helped me first. It was a tough one to hunt down for sure, but it's fixed and apparently the next patch will fix this issue. Thanks for your help! So I'm back in the game.

Hmmm, I have yet to have a valid turn in this game with the game restarts and unable to connect.
