				 Single Player Mods
Are there *any* mods that are any good for single player SEIV? My net access sucks, so that'd be... very nice.
(.zip files are preferable for my D/L...)

				 Re: Single Player Mods
If you like tactical combat and fine control over just a few ships, try:
Pirates & Nomads
http://imagemodserver.mine.nu/other/...dsModV3.1c.zip
Play as a Pirate or Nomad instead of a Normal race, and manage a tiny force as you try to hide and survive in a universe of giants. If the stock game is too easy, try this. Any trick in the book is fair game here.

It does require the imagemod, (combat, facility, and components) which is also available in handy RAR format for extra compression.
Getting winRAR will save you tons of downloading time in the future.

PS:
If you need it, I can break the imagemod up into floppy-sized pieces for you. It would then be easy to download from a neighbour or library and then carry home.

PPS:
The imagemod is an expansion of the stock images, and is used everywhere. Most mods use the graphics in it, and this way, you only have to download them once with occasional update patches. Much easier than downloading another copy of it with each mod.

				 Re: Single Player Mods
TDM Mod is an AI only mod that is great for single player.
FQM does not change the game play, but just changes how systems are built.

both of these are great for single player, and can work together.

You can play single player Porportions Mod, but the AI is not the best and needs to have a high bonus to be any challenge at all.

				 Re: Single Player Mods
For any one on dial up there is always the option for bit torrent or if they want, I can upload the full mod in parts so that they can download them over time. (I think 1.9.0.0 is already listed in four parts in the Archieve section. Download that then update to 1.9.0.9 or 1.9.1.2.) (Both versions are being played on PBW)

				 Re: Single Player Mods
 My <$.02>
The TDM is the best single player Mod if you're looking for a challenging AI. (Excuse me, a MORE challenging AI not that any of 'em can give an experienced player much run-for-the-money without bonuses.)

That's about the only one I play single anymore with the FQM for the cool stuff it has.

				 Re: Single Player Mods
I'd also suggest the Devnul mod for the slight but usefull (and fun) changes it makes from the stock game. |

				 Re: Single Player Mods
 "internet access sucks"
 Definition:

Only available through library / school, both of which have high speed internet, but very poor D/L support. At school I can only manage .zip files, or other files that I can open -- no "save as" or "save to desktop". At library, I have difficulty with using my thumbdrive, though they let me.

Though thank goodness I already have the imagemod -- trying to get that over a thumbdrive would be... a nightmare.

And seeing as how I"ve started making a habit of playing at hard-high bonuses, something must be weird about my game setup, 'cause none of the AIs give me much challenge -- I've tried AST, and the AI is not that great untill and unless it has you boxed in through pure luck (two empires starting next to my system, through my only two exits, each of which has gobs and gobs of systems to expand into and are extra hostile... youch).

OK, so I'll find the TDM mod. The others I can find, just have to re D/L (I hate crashes...)

 edit:

BTW -- if I have the image mod, should I need any other graphics files to play AST? because I keep getting problems from some of the graphics, as if the Imagemod components pack I got a hold of was incomplete or something...
