-If you play a game of SEIV against an experienced player who has been playing it since the beta, they'll treat you with respect and simply play a good game to have fun. If you lose, it's OK.
-If you play some other (retail market) game against experienced players, they'll treat you like dirt, and if you lose, they'll further amuse themselves by saying you can't do sh*t 'cause you're a f***ing n00b.
I mean, just look to Netstorm (ancient online RTS). About half the players are of the highest level and have been playing it for years, the other half are (relatively) new. If you're one of the new guys, you're dead, and they won't hesitate to use words to describe you that would've caused them to be arrested in RL.
I've stopped playing Netstorm.
I'm still playing SEIV. (Not PBW though, but I spend a lot of time on the forums.)

And I also agree with the unwavering support of the members and Shrapnel of this forum. If/when SEV does become a huge success, I'd like to belive that the core group here and the level of decency we've establish will win over any possible raving masses.

I have to agree with what everyone else has said, this place is awesome! Other forums are either repressive, to avoid the violent flaming etc that goes on, or else are the sort that embrace violent flaming and the rest of that nastiness.
