How come that never happens with the bad scales? I mean - my Carrion Wood scales never get zeroed out.

Simply that sometimes, on the first turn, what was Order-3 becomes Order-0, etc. I don't think it happens with Heat, Luck, or Magic, but I'm not sure. (Heat varies with seasons anyway though.)
