				 Breaking Forum into Pieces?
The SE4 forum has a lot of useful information, but it's not very well-organized. It also has a _lot_ of topics and Posts: more than twice as many as the rest of the Shrapnel Boards _combined_.
Would it, perhaps, be possible to break the single SE4 forum into several forums? I might propose a few:

 General SE4 Discussion
(Newbie questions, OT/semi-OT discussions, patch questions)

 Bug Reports and Suggestions
 Strategies
 Game Discussions
 Mod Discussions
 (pretty much all self-explanatory)

Richard? Everyone else? What think us?

				 Re: Breaking Forum into Pieces?
What would be nice at least is if Ricard could make a link at the top to a F.A.Q. that would answer some of the easy questions for beginners. Even if it's just a list of links to useful threads. We have tried making FAQ threads, but they keep drifting down to the later pages. If it stays at the top, it will be easier to find.
 Geoschmo

Edit: Of course there is an FAQ link now, but it is for forum questions, not specific to SEIV.

				 Re: Breaking Forum into Pieces?
Let the admins toggle an "always on top" option for various threads kind of thing? As long as it dosen't get too crowded up there

				 Re: Breaking Forum into Pieces?
Maybe make the list of Newbie FAQ proposed in another thread and add a link in the forum header |

				 Re: Breaking Forum into Pieces?
My opinion only, The Forum is ok the way it is, however, I would like to see a section for reporting bugs/fixs. A number of times the same bugs are reported that were mentioned way back and unless you keep going back and reading all threads its hard to keep up and therefore repeat Posts.
 just some ideas mac

				 Re: Breaking Forum into Pieces?
This would have been more useful a long time ago when the forum was very active. Now, you'd probably just scatter the discussion and slow things down even more. Maybe a "newbie" forum and an "advanced" forum would still be beneficial. Going much further than that would be counter-productive, I think. |
