but at the same time on that pic, I was sort of thinking the same, I would build more space yards, with resources like that, it is good and fun to stockpile for a pic, but unless it was a game to see how much you can stockpile, I would be building like 100 ships a turn!

if I can ask, is that a stock game? I can not think how you can have so much coming in with that ammount of systems that is showing on the pic....

 | Yes it is a stock game, and I currently have build ques set up so that about two hundred baseships finish building every eight turns. Look at the maintenance resource cost in the pic. Oh and btw, I guess the fact that I have 27 fully developed sphereworlds (180 monoliths per sphereworld) helps with the overabundance of resources .

Oh and sorry about the large fromat picture. I didn't realize it was that big. |

Re: If you could give one bit of advice to someone?
If you are being attacked by a (far) larger empire, dig in. Mine all your WPs leading to his space to the max, place as many defense sats as allowed, and deploy fortress bases and defense fleets just in case he breaks through the mines and survives the sats. Station mothballed fleets at your planets/SY bases just in case he manages to survive the mines, sats and ships/bases with any semblance of strength left. If you can't support defenses that size, collapse all WPs leading to his territory and build System Grav shields. DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF!!! You only need to close the WPs to his space! He probably will open up another WP on you somewhere, but at least you'll buy yourself some time.
Otherwise, build up vast assault fleets somewhere secure (like a dead-end nebula system) and open a WP directly to the enemy's home system. Wham bang and you've dealt a good blow to his economy. Perhaps even crippled him, if he hasn't built up a decent economic base in other systems.

You mere mortals cannot fathom the sheer power harnessed in my mighty empire!!! Run in fear!!!
Now that you have discovered me, I must run and hide somewhere else.

Re: If you could give one bit of advice to someone
Read the FAQ (Oh, wait that was not allowed)
Advice for an actual newbie? More philosophy than actual tactics.

Be willing to lose the first few times.

Some of the best games in the world (chess, go) you will lose the first few 50-100 times while you get the "hang of it". Don’t let that discourage you from discovering a game that will hold your interest for years. Try out different strategies. If something doesn’t work, try, try, try again. With the various options of the combat simulator, starting with different tech levels and even playing against only yourself, you can test what works and maybe find new ways of conquering the galaxy.

It's...It's...It's like a beutifull idea whose like the galaxy has never seen before!
 /me starts building a giant cheese-ship.

/me takes a sample, just to be sure the cheese is of good quality.

/me takes another, just to make sure it's got the right structure.

/me takes another, for quality testing purposes.
