Ya, I rushed that turn in and didnt think about the consequences of him vs a sage province. Mass summonings of phantasmal warriors = bad for someone who relies on 33 protection.

Also, did you happen to notice if his stone bird ever attacked because it sure didnt seem like it did.

No, I'd have thought the stone bird would have killed some more of those longdead - seemed a little buggy to me..

my thinking was the reduced action points from monolith stopped the many stone bird attacks?

noone has really been able to give me a concrete answer on action points effecting attacks.

All i can say is... equip ligtning rings to your commanders. 250 ghouls, a couple banelords, and about 30 vine ogres were worth the victory.
