I'm so sorry. Please believe it will get better and all things for a reason. Isn't that what keeps us going?

Well, I've talked to them a bit more, and while they still want me to go, I'm at least not getting the bum's rush. They seem to feel that I'd be best off with my family around me, & I tend to agree. The tension in the house has dropped by quite a bit & they're starting to treat me a bit more 'normally'. That's probably due to a combination of them having a bit of time to adjust & me being just so goshdarn likeable . Still, I have to say I'm rather amazed at the amount of junk I've collected over the years and figuring out how to get all of it home is going to be a nightmare.
There's just one thing I'm a bit worried about. The last few days, I've been hearing a strange buzzing noise, but there's never anyone around for me to ask if they hear it too. So what's kind of bugging me is if, somehow, the doctors managed to make a mis-diagnosis (not bloody likely, but bear with me), could the medication I'm taking be causing me problems? ie: a non-psychotic taking anti-psychotics would begin to exhibit psychotic symptoms?
There's a lot of things in the house that could be making the strange noise, & it being in my head is last on my list of causes but the fact that it only started after I started on my medication bugs me a bit...

Depending on what Medication you're on it can be an uncommon Side Effect of the drugs. I certainly remember 'Ringing in the Ears' being a side effect on some of the drugs I used to take.

You might want to research the Side Effects of the medication you're on.

Ear plugs should help you decide if it is a real sound coming from the house or not.
Tinnitus is annoying.

I agree with RD and SJ. Of course it could be a side-effect or tinnitus (ear ringing). The best idea would be to sit in a room you've heard it before with another person, being completely quiet and seeing if you both hear it. If you do and they don't, I start looking at the medications or another symptom of the schizophrenia.

Actually, psychiatric illnesses are still highly likely to be misdiagnosed. You're usually going by what someone says about their inner experience, not a truly objective 'lab test' as with physical illness. People who are seeing aliens or hearing voices or whatnot can usually be pretty certain they got the right diagnosis when the drugs make the aliens disappear and/or the voices stop, though.

But a 'non-psychotic' taking anti-psychotic medications wouldn't experience any different side-effects from the actual psychotic. It's the same medication either way. So you ought to research the medication as already suggested and see if 'ringing in the ear' or other auditory effects are among the known side-effects.

Definitly get it checked out, both to see if it is in your head and talk to your doctor.

As an additional note, sometimes when our tv is breaking down a little more, it starts squeeling, really high-pitched. My sister and I can hear it; nobody else can. Maybe you just have sensitive hearing.

tv's produce a high freq noise when on which is audible to some individuals usually a genetic trait ( dad a tvtech since he was a "kid" due to his "ear" 2yrs dead and me not brother ) other side of topic the others are way more qualled (wallpaper quals) than i so i refrain
