Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
It's simple because it's multiplayer friendly. I couldnt imagine playing SE in realtime multiplayer. But there is plenty of strategy to be learned.

Realtime multiplayer?!?
Space Empires games are turn based strategy. Most definitely not an RTS, thank Xintis.

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
This looked interesting - but given that Stardock now require online activation for their software, I'll give it a miss. Having been "burnt" with GalCiv2 (bought it for the lack of CD-checks and now cannot run it with the 1.3 update - still waiting for an activation code from Stardock since applying on the 19th Oct) I'll be giving all their products a miss in future.
Their online activation may be more lenient than most (the key can be stored to allow future installs but is machine/software specific so a new machine needs re-activation) but it still has the ability to cause problems - especially if Stardock ever stop supplying keys at any point in the future.

I imagine that sucks for the people who brought SOTS solely for the single-player.

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
Oh I am a bit angry about something.
Over three years ago I designed a set of ships for the tournament. I posted images of a few of the ships here and there and even one or two were chosen by David Gervais, Malfador, and SFI for use with some of their fine art work for their games.
Now I look through the game images for this game and I see something that just angers me to no end. (Screen shot from gamespot.com)
You compare and tell me what you think.

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
I think there isn't really any similarity, other than both ships using a really generic style. Both of them are just as similar to human destroyers from Babylon 5 (at least, the ones with artificial gravity and no rotating bit) as they are to each other; just general shape.

I have to agree with Fyron, B5 was my first thought too.

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
They remind me of the destroyers used in "Homeworld". One of their early games IIRC...

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
I did model them after Earth ships from B5.
