Dominions 3 supports transparency in TGA files. You just need to make a TGA format picture that has transparency in it.

I have not tried it with tga files. I took my existing tga map and converted it to rgb with GIMP. Then I removed the parts that I did not want to show simply by erasing them.

I currently have a couple of other projects in the pipe playing with the transparency as well. I think some really interesting maps can be done this way. Looking forward to seeing what people with real talent (Jason!) can do with it.

The map is broken.

Note province #213 (Ivermark). It's on the upper landmass, one province in from the left edge, two provinces in from the river. It's roughly pentagram shaped, it's farmland.

Note, also, province #212. (Dommen). There are some slight differences. It connects to #214 (Akesta) and it isn't farmland.

Clicking the left half of the province gets Dommen, the right half gets Ivermark.
