Question on Armageddon wish

Sorry if this information is on site, I could not find any. What does Armageddon EXACTLY do?

It kills population (20%?) but it also kills commanders and troops. How? Is there a defense? Domes? Etherialness, luck, armour, magic resistance? High health seem to help, so it probably not 150hp damage like Gift from Sky.

My heavy armoured Ulmish troops have survived the dozon or so Armageddons in Scourned Lands. So heavy armour helps as does having a nice strong helmet. Im guessing being ghostly and lucky helps too. Wondering about domes...

That game still running? I gave my nation away (returned to original owner) and he was "DUDE WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY MAGES!" I guess he was lucky he was away for Armageddon season. Or maybe it is just me. I came to Scorned Lands, and Armageddon started. I came to California, and a big part burned. :-(

I think it is like Black Death in every province. Kills about 20% of the pop and an Earthquake type attack on units or sth.

I'm also curious if anyone knows whether commanders with stealth will be in danger if they are hiding when it's cast.
