Ok, I'm lost now... I just tried the empire part of it. But that didn't work, it still looks to the host like everyone connected, but the players won't connect. We have a computer here with a dail up connection. (fixing it for family member) and I tried to play between those two computers. Same thing. The host shows players connect but players won't connect. Any suggestions? Oh btw, I'm on a network. Got a web server, with 3 computers connected to it. That wouldn't affect anything would it? We only opened the ports needed on my IP address.

Have you tried swapping which PC runs the host? Or having both player client pc and host PC on your home network instead of across the internet?

That's about all I can think of at the moment. You are so close, just need to find that magic ingredient to tie it all together.

Ok, yes we tried swapping who ran the host computer. And yes I tried it with 2 computers in the home network and it worked perfectly fine, no problems what-so-ever. But over the internet it just doesn't want to do nothing. I'm thinking the ports arn't configured to send both protocols udp and tcp. But I don't know, I'm going to mess with that in a little bit to see what I can do.

I am thinking that sometime I would like to host an SE4 TCP/IP and any debugging practice would be valuable experience.

e-mail me at sushibob@comcast.net if you are interested.

Yeah man, you wannt set up a time to try it against each other? To see if you can figure out the problem. That's fine with me. Email me at Metallic_Man55@yahoo.com to set up a time, I will be on here after 6 (EST) PM tonight till like late. So if you're on maybe we can try it around then.

Unfortunatly, now we haven't, helps seems to have died down. We don't know what to do. Still waiting on reply from Malfador to see if they have any ideas as to what to do.

DSL itself shouldn't be a problem. Firewalls (especially NAT firewalls) will be, until you manage to make a working rule to allow it.

It's not just a protocol problem. The testers did manage to run TCP/IP games successfully over the Internet, for those not behind firewalls.

yeah, I know it's a firewall problem. But I'm just trying to figure out how to get by that, I've opened up the ports needed to run the game but it still won't work. Can't figure it out.

I'm trying to run this game with a friend of
mine, who's using the same DSL provider as me.

The IP-Adresss given out from SEIV seems to be
a local one (winipcfg/ipconfg says something
different).

So we tried to ping and got a response. The one
who's server will get a message that the user
connected and the client will get could not
connect to server after awhile.

If you retry, the client will get the same
error message and the client will see the
client logged in twice!?

Maybe someone can help ?
