But "smiles" seems inadequate for the moving action figures. It works for the standard pictorial representations of text pictures as Gandalf confims, but I do not think it is valid for the really cool action ones.

Here is my stab at giving them a name.

How about "MnM's"? Short for motion and message?

No doubt the Mars candy company will have a medium sized cow.
