If you've downloaded the image file archive you should also find a copy of the original .map file for the random map. You should be able to start a game in SP using Lanka with no problems. What is the exact nature of the error you are getting?

The position is currently temporary from what I know so far, but I cannot tell you at this point whether it may become permanent. You may choose to play temporarily if you wish to get a feel for the team and the nation first before committing long term.
