Default Question about trading technologies with AI?

Do people ever trade technologies? I tries a few times and the computer always says no.

My offers were pretty fair too.

Tough Guy For me any Ai doest have a good common sense when trading. But to answer your question,
This always works, Player can give Ai 5000+ Min 5000+Rad, and player request ai for There Colony which will be either rock or oxygen,or Gas whatever the Ai world is, Hopefully Ai planet and your world type are different . Also You can trade minerals for other resources organic/radition.These 2 trades always works, even when mood of Ai is hostle.

As for, tecknoligie trade tecknoligie, I cant get ai to trade either?.Hopefull sombody on this site can address this & send a email to MM.
And let me know too.Happy conquring Tough Guy

Depending on how I am playing, and available planets. Early on I have had sucessfull trades with the AI. If I am playing gas giant race, and am next door to a rock neutral. I trade tech for tech (colonization techs). Have not had that turned down yet. I think it has to do with the tech value=value. The AI is not gonna trade a 20k tech for a 5k tech. It has to be fairly balanced. Usually tho, by the time I can do tech reports and find out what they actually have, I am stomping there butt anyway, and just go for the "gimme-all" with a forced surrender.

It depends upon how the AI has been programmed. Some accept trades with 80%, some 90% of the given amount. Some AIs have been programmed to do not accept reasonable trades at all, they are set to something like 3000% for example. You can find this value in ai_general.txt (or politics? I do not remember).

EDIT: I try to avoid trading other than base (0) techs, because if you ask for e.g. physics 2 and give 100000 min for it, it could happen that your minerals are gone in case of the ai is short of physics 2.

If they won't accept a stright tech trade, offer them a few ships for one of their colonisers. You can analyse the ship for tech, and you'll get some alien population into the bargain as well.
