Shrek, somewhere in here is a description how to sent the files to me. If you cannot find them I will have to repost write a documentation again. However, I will be in Italy from Friday till Wednesday next week.

Cheers Uberteufel. I will scroll down the thread and find your words of wisdom.

I will then see if I understand them to send you my race (I am still trying to marry up the Piundon shipset with the Terran race portrait and flag!!!) - what did we decide on racial points?

What are you doing in Italy? is she attractive?

"Doing myself in", I admit my sweetheart does want a lot of attention and my experiments do take a lot out of me.
You once mentioned a Mantacora in a Private Mail as a counter to my Gryphin being 1/2 Feline and ss such able to deal with Tiggas.
"allwwed to post here" was in responce to your "Banned" jest.
I'll try to find the post

Cheers Gryph - can I reccomend Metatonic BTW - I find it is a great restorative if you are feeling down, done over or in your case, probably done in!

Manticores, Chimaeras, Griffins, Hippogriffs whatever, they are all catfood in one form or the other

Gryphin
April 9th, 2002, 02:46 PM
I don't know what Metatonic is, but I'm sure it is not good for me.
I was offering to make you a Racial Portrait with a Mantacora body. Do a search at Google.com on +furry +mantacora
Let me know if there are any you like.

Metatonic is a vitamin complex and is quite tasty - you buy it in chemists and health food shops

Can you do me a racial portrait of that girl I sent you? if not, the human portrait will do!

As for the remark about "Tiggas = torp targets", I am not going to dignify that remark with a response

"Gryphins = poor quality catfood"

Good for you Mephisto, I was beginning to get worried about you

When you say she is attractive, do you mean she has nice fur, good legs, long ears, big eyelashes and a wet nose? or is it big teeth, nice scales, good wingspan and a lovely tail

Gryphin
April 9th, 2002, 03:07 PM
If you are serious, yes I can make a racial pic of her.
"Poor Qualty Cat food"? You are apsolutely correct. But you wil never know because Tiggas will be dinnin on my torps.

Growltigga
April 9th, 2002, 03:24 PM
Gryphin, actually, it would be more than my life is worth to have that paragon of virtue as my racial portrait - No, I cannot do that so please could you just use the dorky picture of the terran from the SEIV game.

PS I will send you the website address for that lovely young lady so that you may ponder to your hearts' content

PPS you have a torp fixation, I suggest you seek counselling

Gryphin
April 9th, 2002, 03:33 PM
My sweetheart will spend more time at the delightful site.
I can send you the Sweet Racial Pic so you can use it wint another rase. Hmm, I wonder if I use it as my pic will you shoot at my ships?

If you use Ines Sastre as your racial picture, I would be your best friend and yes, Iwould not blow your ships up

BUt if you do that, I will use a picture of a Woolly Bear as my racial portrait and you will think that you are looking in a mirror!!

Torps are torps, I personally will look forward to carving you up like an oven ready duck with an PPB

GT, I have been real busy at work and haven't had the chance to take a breather, also my youngest son deleted my Sulfnbk file by mistake and now we've been having trouble getting on AOL, don't know if this is what's causing the problem or not, from what I've been told this file has to do with networking and internet files. I don't know if it would affect my PBW game or not, anyone have any ideas or info on it, or how I can bring it back??

In regards to my "trollies", I have hired a private eye to investigate into the disappearance of some of these items in questions. I posed the question to my wife, but alas, she took the 5th???

Tesco, how about the "Galactic International Bash", or is this to long??

GT, His most imperious, all knowing, ever enlightening, Highness, Twixle the 4th, of the Tka-chik empire, has always been one to continue to endeavor into the realms of research, alas, this quest however is very costly, therefore, he is open to any and all salutations in regards to compensation to further his races completeness with the universe, in regards to scientific study.
In fact our new CTW cruisers have been recently upgraded with mixed crews to increase the fighting moral of our All victorious Navy, especially in those systems far away and continued research into a TGP weapon system is currently underway, the cost is high tho, so we are always looking for additional funds, resources, tech etc to help our most esteemed race expand throughout the universe in search of scientific knowledge...But, we have the know how to defend ourselves if need by..... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

In regards to the names being listed, I haven't tried it yet with the Gold, but in 1.49 and others when I turned the names and the Resupply, yards etc on, they covered overe each other and were hard to read, I don't know if this has been fixed with GOld.

You are scaring me Mac, you are really scaring me. I am also worried about your CTW cruisers and the TGP weapon system.

The fabulous furry felines of the Growltigga Imperium are pleased to announce that they have finally completed construction protocol on the 'Furry Fellah' Battlecruiser design - combining this with our new "Moose Kisser" missile system and the galaxy will tremble to the sound of our paddy paws - and as for development of the "stubborn understains" delivery system and "Mac's Kaks" claoking system - we cant lose

Canada is, as ever, cold.

I am back in the office and have a copy of Gold sitting at home. I will draw up a race and will be happy to send it wherever it is needed. I too lean towards PBW, it is smoother. I also support Mac’s set up, though I would like planet names displayed. After all, it adds to the role playing flavour.

Moose kissing was kept to the obligatory dozen a day. After all, I was busy, but could not let the family name down. I am pleased to be back in Kenya where the sun is shining and I can ask that cute girl at the moneychangers out for dinner.

Tigga, please forward me your boss’ email address, we need to discuss the internet access issue. Clearly employees are being allowed far too many privileges in your office and I need to set things straight.

Unit and ship limit should be set as high as possible. While only my fleet will be big enough to push the ship limit, the unit limit can hurt those who like mines, sats and fighters.

Ok, I read the problems with patch thread, still have problems, therefore some questions for those more computer literate then me.

1. which is the best way to install patch?
2. I have various Mods and the launcher, do I have to reinstall them as well or won't they be affected by the patch?
3. should I just reinstall gold under different directory, re-name it, then patch, then download the mods again? or just try to download the patch into current gold Version which has mods installed?
4. Is the 20,000 limit in the patch, my gold Version only goes to 5000, just want to make sure I didn't screw something else up, sigh

I'm going to have to take some computer classes if these keeps up http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

1) Just run the patch. Try setting your path.txt back to "NONE" before you do, just in case. If it complains that your game isn't the correct Version, then save a backup copy of your mods and savegames, then reinstall.

2) Mods should not be seriously affected by the patch.
AI's will see a difference, and the No Firing When Out Of Supplies bit will make for some gameplay changes.

Assuming you have your mods safely stored in modfolders (ie you didn't overwrite the original data) then they will be fine.

3) See #1.
And make a backup of your mods, don't download again.

4) Yes.

Tesco,

It might be 29 where you are but it was –4 where I was. Vancouver was warmer, but single digit temperatures are rough on my delicate constitution. As for the playoffs, the Canucks are doing their best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and probably won’t make it.

As for playing, yes I am in. Given my dictatorial, colonialist tendencies, I would suggest it will be self-apparent when you meet my race, even if I try playing a Fluffy Bunny Species.

Tigga,

I have checked my PM, but nothing has arrived. Perhaps your eminently sensible IT man has wisely limited your computer privileges. Has he installed the web cam to your computer yet? The one you think is for video conferencing, but actually has a more practical use in monitoring your activity? You know, like the one you paid to have installed in Mac’s laundry room?

As for the cute girl at the money changers, you are right, she does have too many problems already. However, you have heard the old saying about giving work to a busy person if you want to have it done? Well, my theory is to give more problems to the troubled person in the hopes she will be too distracted to use her good judgment and tell me to piss off. Perhaps Gryph can give me some tips in this area.

Saxon

You are bragging about victories with drones in a combined arms battle against a human. Does this warrant further comment or gloating in the Cantina? Naturally, we all wonder if this is the long awaited duel between you and Gryph.

Saxon, this paints an interesting vignette on your psychological profile - I suggest you seek counselling (dont us Europeans just love the way you north americans go running off to your psychiatrists every 10 seconds, it makes us fell so level headed and superior)

I have checked my PM, but nothing has arrived

Hmmmm, this is strange, I have 2 Messages in my outbox showing as unread by you

You know, like the one you paid to have installed in Mac’s laundry room

This is slander, the notoriety of Mac's keks has travelled before him and there are Innuits high in the artic circle who have heard of the thermal properties of Mac's trollies

has anyone ever wondered whether Mrs Mac is able to turn on a computer and send her own PM's???

Well, my theory is to give more problems to the troubled person in the hopes she will be too distracted to use her good judgment and tell me to piss off

This is cruel, think of the emotional turmoil your unwanted advances are going to have on this poor girl - all you want to do is satisy your disgusting urges and you are happy to accept the psychological damage you are going to do to this poor flower to do that - you are a heartless, imperialistic, soft skinned Canadian wretch - moose kissing is too good for you, you should stick to skunks

Yep, whipped Khanuk's posterior proper with that tactic - I can definately confirm that Gryphin was not the recipient of this thrashing and I am sure he would not have make the daft mistakes Khanuk did

Still, it was quite a good tactic, I am far too sierra-club orientated to use drones against planets and I have never liked kamikazes

lst in regards to the game, Mephisto said he would be tied up for lst part of the week and to hold off until towards the end of wk before we send him our races. Wait until he lets us know hes ready for setup...

SJ, tks again for the help, I owe you big time, however, I haven't tried your advise yet, so don't be surprised if I mess something up again as usual http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

In regards to my Keks, I have instituted a complete search of my laundry room to ascertain if by chance those phone repair persons were hired by some unknown individual to emplace certain monitors to reveal the locations of those items in question. Further, I have received a scientific report from those in the Artic/Anartic areas of this planet, in which is specifically states that Global Warming is now at unprecedented numbers. It is felt that some abnormal properties are helping not only to cause but to speed up the process. Since I have recently found some of my particular articles missing, it is the possiblity that some unscrupuless person/s have displaced them into the northern reaches of our world, however, it is unknown if they would have any effect on this particular trend. The articles in question were those that were being utilized while researching into the concepts and taste of Tesco's and Puke's sauces in regards to chili and other related cook out quisine. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

In regards to Mrs M and the computer, she has just received her lst one at work and she is in the process of learning its use, This could be bad or good in relationship to the use of our home system and my playing time. In addition, her answer to the Keks is just to "Bury Them", burning would be considered pollution

Tigga,

“Poor innocent flower”? I had already explained that she is a moneychanger and we all know that it is fair game to mistreat and throw out of the temple any moneychangers that we come upon. Historically, they are almost as reviled as lawyers. In fact, I am sure I saw your name on a “Money Changers and Lawyers Co-Commiseration and Group Therapy Seminar”. I will look for it; it is probably in all that scientific literature that Mac has been sending me.

As for therapy, I am just following directions. Following my Last session, the nice lady at reception told me that the therapist was done and never wanted to see me again. She suggested that I go back to my fantasy world and never leave the house again. As such, I can not follow your suggestion of going for counseling, I am supposed to be locked up and playing SEIV.

You are suggesting that this "poor innocent flower" submit to agreeing a tryst with yourself during which you will no doubt try and juxtapose your manipulatory appendages next to or near her erogenetic zones and will also no doubt attempt to break down her (hopefully staunch) morales with your moose-kissing wiles

If all that are not grounds for sympathising with the girl, then I do not know what are.

I think you will find that the biblical reference is to moneylenders, not money changers. You will be surprise how few bureau de change were around in Palestine in 50BC!

I am a lawyer who specialises in banking and finance so that makes me double damned I guess

Also, the fact that you have gone to a therapist says it all

Mac, buring your keks is not environmentally friendly - it releases too much carbon and other noxious substances into the atmosphere.

I consider that Wubbya should consider amending the current US space programme to allow for your used undergarments to be launched by linear accelerator into the Sun. It is the only way of disposing them.

Please dont suggest burying your trollies again, I have this awful vision (like the end of that Spielberg AI movie) of an alien race digging up this lead lined concrete enclosed package thinking it will be some time capsule of wonderful information, and all they get are your tesco-sauce-spoiled keks

Saxon, one must remember that who was the one who was sipping some brew, enjoying the sights of those juggling acts that bounced within his vision at those small quaint outside cafe`s and all the while he was supposedly working. Therefore, money changer or lender, go for it,

You could even break the ice by trying to explain to her the scientific wonders of the "CTW or the "TGP". I'm sure that upon the wonderous insights into these topics that the young filly in question, would see that you are most interested in the finer aspects of science and that you are a person of the world with a fine intellect. As a Last minute bit of tasteless humour, let me agree that there were not a lot of money changers in Palestine in 50BC and add that I doubt there are many there right now. Things are just too lively.

No, you are right Saxon. I was watching our breakfast news this morning and naturally, the BBC had one of their star reporters pretty much in the thick of things on the West Bank.

I had the great pleasure of spending not far off a year in the Middle East in 1992/1993 and spent a fair amount of time in Israel and Jordan. I have been to a lot of the West Bank towns including Ramallah and Bethlehem.

The BBC reporter was driving through Ramallah which I always remembered as a lively typical Arab/Palestinian town, thronged to the nines and busy with people enjoying and living their lives. I watched the TV this morning and could not believe. Ramallah was deserted and war torn and I just could not comprehend the difference between reality today and my memories

Please note that I am not casting any opinion or taking any sides on or in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

I think it is just so sad that this sort of thing happens in this modern so-called civilised age

Quoting an old song:
"But when I returned how my eyes have burned
to see how a town could be brought to its knees
by the armoured cars and the bombed out bars
and the gas that hangs on to every breeze
Now the army's installed by the old gas yard wall
and the damded barbed wire gets higher and higher
with their tanks and their guns oh my God what have they done to the town I loved so well"

To open up a game I need to know:
1.) How many players we are.
2.) How many racial points.
3.) What size of the galaxy.
4.) What techs level we start at.
5.) Tech cost.
6.) Number of starting planets.
7.) Conditions of starting planets
8.) Players can see other players score yes/no.

As I have played some PBEM games I would recommend:
2.) 2000-3000.
3.) Medium size.
4.) Low. Medium if wished for.
5.) High.
6.) 3 to 5.
7.) Good.
8.) No.

Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong's Head Desaster Area is up and running on PBW. So, go and register, sent me your player names and files!

Saxon
April 18th, 2002, 02:07 PM
Ok, I am in place on the PBW. Since it is my first time doing this and I suspect new to others as well, let me reassure you that it is very simple. As Tigga will tell you, if I can figure it out, so can your average garden vegetable.

I would suggest going to the PBW site http://seiv.pbw.cc/ Go to the FAQs and print them out, they are very helpful. From there, try to join the game and once Mephisto says ok, upload your empire file.

Getting your empire file is easy. Just fire up SEIV and create your race. Just remember to set the racial points at 5000 at the start, or you will have to redo everything. Then save the race under your name of choice. You will need to know the directory it is in when you want to upload it.

Mephisto has very kindly set the game up so that a turn only runs when everyone has sent their turn in. This is great and will make our world a happy place. However, if anyone is planning to go on holiday, please let us know so we can get our teddy bears and go mope.

Saxon
April 18th, 2002, 02:14 PM
As the resident garden vegetable, I messed one thing up. Have your .emp file (empire file) ready before you start. Mephisto does need to authorize your entry to the game, which might be quick or might wait until it is daylight in Europe. Once he does that, you can upload your file. In my case, I think we share a time zone and he authorized me very quickly.

Sincew when have you been a garden vegetable, and if so, please can the usual residents of the cantina cast their votes for what sort of vegetable Saxon would be, I personally will go for Celeriac

Esel, if I am right from Saxon's post, do you need to be available when we go Online, I wont be able to design the empire until later on tonight which means you would have to be around late on your time

Also, how do find out where the "save empire" option has stuck your file??

Gryphin, I will respond here rather than the 'Planetary Names' thread.

Yes, I do know who John Norman is. As I recall, he wrote about 4-5 good books about Tarl Cabot and Gor, and then about another 20 books where he seemed to be going off on frolics about slavegirls and what you could do with them. He lost it when he went that way if you ask me as some of those stories were really good (Tribesmen of Gor was always a personal favourite)

Right, I now see that you name your planets after battles. That's cool. Why is Little Big Horn in my honour? I note you did not seem to include any battles where the americans got beaten!

As to responding to the off-topic remark, everything in its place, everything in its place

Saxon
April 18th, 2002, 03:57 PM
Where is your .emp file?

Well, open up Microsoft Windows Explorer. It is the place where you see where the files are in your computer. You will look for the folder called Program files, as that is where SEIV is probably saved, unless you installed things in an odd fashion. Double click on that folder and look for Malfodor Malefactions, then SEIV, then either Empires or Races (sorry I forget the exact name). In that folder, you should see a lot of familiar looking names like Krill, Cue Cappa, ect. Look for the one that is the name you used when saving your empire, i.e. Diseased Tigers or Dirty Boxer Shorts. That should be your .emp file.

Tigga, don't worry about Mephisto being on line when you are. If you join and he is not on line, you will just have to log on again tomorrow night and hope he has authorized you in the mean time.

Interesting, we are more alike than I thought. I have the first 4 books. I stopped reading when he “off on his frolics”. My favorite was “Nomads of Gor” as you may have picked up from the “Kamchak” referance.
My favorte quote is: “I am a Tuchuck, I have a plan”.

Little Big Horn is in your honor because of all the razing you gave me over Custer.
<EDIT:> “where Americans go beaten”, Depends on how you look at the battles of the Civil War or the battles with the Native Americans who used to force us to Circle the Wagons. You could say Americans both won and lost those battles but I wax philosophically.
</EDIT>

It is rewarding to see you pick up on my method of moving Off Topic remarks here, (the way I started doing). You are trainable after all.

Right, with that display of typical teutonic efficiency, I do believe Mephisto (Esel to his friends)has accepted all of the 'Bar & Grill' possee to the game

What do we do now? how does Mac embark on his quest for galactic domination at the expense of fluffy bunnies and furry felines everywhere? has my shipset loaded? I dont know?? what is going on?
Has Captain Kwok got the right idea? help, I do not understand what is going on?

Actually, on a very funny note, Mrs GT had her first sight of the forum the other day - I did ask her to participate but she said that 'I was a sad man and more likely to have a knee trembler with Cameron Diaz than get her on the forum" - she also said that most of the participants probably had beards

Now, we know about Gryphin and the furry fellah infesting his top lip, I am about as follicly challenged as Patrick Stewart (with the same posh English accent)

Mac? nah, old boy with a marine haircut
Mephisto? nah,. young German looking like Michael Schenker
Saxon? definate beard potential there
Tesco? potential beard potential I feel

This is probably information we should share before this game starts - there is still time to back out

Beard? Of course I have a beard. It would take all the fun out of kissing moose if I didn’t have a beard.

Have you ever read Castro’s essay on beards? He sets out, at great length, how wasteful shaving is. He calculated the time and expense that each man goes through every morning shaving. He then multiplies it by the number of men in Cuba and calculates the wasted man-hours and resources each year. His conclusion is that shaving is counter revolutionary and a waste. Thus, his bushy beard.

Oh, as far as I know everyone is on board and we could actually start playing.

Beard confirmed here as well. Not big and bushy and viking like, admittedly. It's actually very pretentious and slightly comical- a short goatee with an inch- thick unshaved "ridge" running centrally from bottom lip to chin. I'm hoping to grow the central bit long enough to plait. Maybe then it will stop looking silly...

In regards to a beard, alas, I must decline, In my younger college days I had a beard it just seemed like the right thing at the time, nowadays, clean shaven, except for on top, there it is thining out quite nicely thank you, it is the sign of distinction and besides, Bald is beautiful, and some of the fairer sex, even consider it SEXY.. I do admit to a rounder midlife tubular type middle but again its more due to age then Brewski's (also from sitting behind a desk too much at my age) I must confess that for several yrs prior to my wedding, I to had a symbiate relationship with a furry Wooly Bear upon my upper extemities, however, after putting forth my eternal vows of everLasting companionship with the now Mrs Mac, the poor little thing, twitched its ears, shed some of its torso and left me to seek a far more enjoyable host. I do hope the little furball is quite happy upon its new location.

You definitely need to reveal where this Castro essay on beards can be found. In world of professionally intellectual wives one needs all the big boys one can get.

And besides, I think my wife respects Castro too much to dismiss his reasons out right. If it helps, you'll have witnessed the only real liberation any Communist dictator has done for the modern post-industrial capitalist.

Tesco,

A lot of Americans assume I am a Communist. After all, Canada is a socialist country and that is the same thing as Communism, isn’t it? Perhaps our fluffy little Tigga has been influenced a bit by our American neighbors and sees anything left of the British Conservative Party as raging, godless communism.

I was thinking that we should make the Tigga/Gryhin duel more interesting. If Tigga wins, the furry worm must be shaved and a picture posted. If Gryhin wins, Tigga must paint a giant “G” on his head and then go to work and have pictures posted. If we were to apply it more broadly, Tesco could be forced to wear troUsers and Mac would have to buy new undies (no pictures need to be posted; we will trust your word). Naturally, there is no need to set a forfeit for me, as we all know that the Fluffy Bunnie Species shall rule the galaxy.

What a horrible thing to say... that really isn't called for

anything left of the British Conservative Party as raging, godless communism.

Hmm.. this shows the ex-colonials' complete lack of understanding of British politics (at least ours is not based on spin, PR hype and bribery).. anything left of the Tories is hardly communism, our labour party is left of the Tories but still more central than say the Liberal Democrats who are generally more left than labour. What our Labour party is not is truly socialist - communism would just not work in England (and doesn't work in Canada either)

Tigga must paint a giant “G” on his head and then go to work and have pictures posted.

ahem, as for penalties..... how about the following, also please be advised there really is no actual Communist Country in the world according to the actual make up of what a Communist Country should be. By definition, I don't believve there is one, therefore, the word Communist is used but does not incorporate what a true Communist state should be, otherwise there would be numerous happy people in this world. A true Communist state is Utopia, believe me, no such country exists anywhere on this planet..

Capt Kwok (aka Capt Spoogy), we should be starting very soon, I believe everyone has uploaded their empires, but I haven't cked lately, Discussions within the realm of those here within are always welcomed and lively, especially if you are into "Moose or Gnu Kissing". As you can see the current discussion concerns beards and whether they make one distinguished or just plain hairy. In addition we are contemplating the concepts of certain penalties for those of us who go down into glorious but blazing defeat. You are more then welcome to pull up a chair, pop open a brewski or two, settle back, and while watching the bouncing sites that walk by, indulge yourself in this most exceptional Bar & Grill Cantina. Tigga,

I am so upset. Here I am, simply trying to make your life a happier place. I thought painting a giant G on the Shreck-like bald spot would give you a G Spot, thereby lifting your bedroom antics to new levels of enjoyment. Oh well, I knew that I should have just kept my humanitarian impulses to myself.

As you say, the kissing of Gnu’s is nothing new to me, but given the high level of interest, I will endeavor to get a photo for web distribution. Hopefully this will dispel your foul rumors of my sexual inactivity.

Tesco,

The Moose in Canada is a bit unlike the Tiger in Africa. As Tigga will be happy to tell you, my very being is so offensive to Tigers, that they have all left and gone to Asia. We are left with lions, leopards and house cats. I hope that I can match this situation in the game.

Have you heard about the Queen’s visit in ’67? Some bright spark in External Affairs thought it would be nice to present the Queen with two live beavers. Technically, the tax on Canada, per year, is two beaver pelts, so they thought it would be fun. Anyway, the beavers are in a cage and during the presentation, the Queen asks, “My, what are they doing?” Imagine the fun that the Prime Minister had answering that question, as it was a male and a female in the cage.

On the topic of who has the biggest thingamjing, I have to tell you that we are all out of luck. On Sunday, I was at the game park and there were some elephants strolling about. We lost this race before it even began.

Did my best to get a snap of a gnu being kissed, let us see how the film develops and perhaps I can scan it in.

So did you propose on date three and Miss World became Mrs GT

No, Miss World was too fickle and flippant to be a steady relationship - it took that long to wear down her morales (or lack of them)- Mrs GTR is an English Rose, and not some Latino firecracker

Perhaps your wife has friends

Now that she does - one of the things that impressed me most about Mrs GT was the sheer quality of her friends. Truly, the class of '88 Loreto Convent School are a fine lot of strapping stacked young fillies with a lust for life and a low tolerance for alcohol - as I said at my wedding, you can always tell a Loreto girl, you just cannot tell her very much

I was at the game park and there were some elephants strolling about

I went whale watching off Iceland a few years ago - now that would have given an elephant an inferiority complex. Strangely, all I got was a headache and an ambivalent feeling toward garden hosepipes

Did my best to get a snap of a gnu being kissed,

what about a picture of you kissing a beaver? Mac would like that as he seems to be keen on rodentia

I will have to ask you to excuse my more than normal ignorance, but is Loreto Convent an international order of nuns or is it just one school, just down the road from where I work? That Mrs. GT has not only risen from beneath the garage floor, but that she also went to school down the road from me, is just to much for my small vegetable mind to handle.

As for kissing beavers, will a rock hyrax do? Not a lot of beavers here in Kenya. On a related topic, I suggest you move over to the “Art or Science” thread and read about the French Fighter Pilot.

Good question that man - I suspect it is an international order of nuns who run convent schools all round the world - there are 2 loreto schools in the manchester environs and Mrs GT went to the nicer one of the two - she certainly didn't go to the Nairobi branch

That Mrs. GT has not only risen from beneath the garage floor

that is what you get if you dont get the sand/cement mix in your concrete just right - I believe Mrs GT (or at least her mother-in-law is) is an example of a new, previously unkonown type of undead which even Buffy couldn't beat up - rising from the grave is no trouble for Mrs GT, she can rise from anything

will a rock hyrax do?

No, semi-arboreal rodentia are not acceptable substitutes for aquatic rodentia - I would suggest you see what can be done with pangolins or aardvaarks

and read about the French Fighter Pilot

Yeh yeh, mate I knew that joke when you were still straining boiled egg from you beard - we call it the joke of Alphonse the Fearless French Fighter Ace - we have another one about Wolfgang the Terrible Teutonic Tank Driver but I wouldn't dare go through that on this forum

Tesco, I loaded, after much fiting with my nemisis computer, the TDM-ModPack without any problems. What I found I did wrong, was I forgot to remove the word none in the path and type in TDM-ModPack. Once i did that, I loaded it from the CD, unzipped and i went in fine. When I clik on it I get Playing from TDM-Modpack Directory..
I would ck with Mephisto on the mod pack

Something too tough for even Buffy to beat up? That sounds pretty tough, like some of my cooking.

I have received the first turn of the game and look forward to taking it home. Chances are good that I will end up sharing the system with some tangle haired feline with an unusual lust for undead nuns, but such are the trials of being a galactic conqueror.

Mac, give me a couple of days to work on the photos, I need to learn some things about digital photos and the internet. I used to think I was an up to date kind of fellow, but now I am out of date and without a date, so you will have to bear with me.

I would like to give a very big thanks to Mephisto and all the others who helped get this set up, especially given the tricky things we ran into in the setup.

Serious question - I will hopefully be able to download the first turn of the game tonight (I assume it comes via email) - we have a sensible turn 'turnaround' time of 48 hours but it is likely that I will not always be able to hit this

What happens? do I email Mephisto who then plays my round or something??

Yuk, remind me never to pop in and see you in Nairobi - let me guess, Meerkat Souffle? Wildebeest a la King? Rhino a la orange avec trouffles? testicle of Lion in a aspic sauce?

. Chances are good that I will end up sharing the system with some tangle haired feline with an unusual lust for undead nuns

Mate, get your facts right - cats are never tangle haired - we always look tip top and great -if you are in the same system as the fabulous furry fighting felines of the Growltigga Alliance - be prepared to be used as Catsan

As for the undead nun remark - Mrs GT might be one step away from being Nosferatu, but she has never been a nun

such are the trials of being a galactic conqueror

you missed out the key words 'follicly insipid beardy weirdy galactic conqueror'

I would like to give a very big thanks to Mephisto and all the others who helped get this set up, especially given the tricky things we ran into in the setup

Tigga,

Should you ever drop by, you will not have to face my cooking, in fact, you would be quite well fed. Reel back to the start of our placid and serene relationship and you may remember stating that I was an evil imperialist who needed chucking off the Boards. The reason? My cook Freida.

Freida has saved me from my own cooking and does a lovely job of feeding me. We rarely have game meat as it is usually, well, gamey and tough. Besides, I feel a bit guilty eating gnu for dinner; they are such good kissers.

On a more serious note, I thought that we were on a turn around that happened when the Last person uploaded their files. However, it also says 48 hours turn around, so I am confused. Not having played PBW before, I could be wrong, but I think that means that we can not miss a turn (good) but we do have to wait for everyone (slower). Or does it mean it will process every 48 hours or when everyone sends their turn, which ever comes first? Can one of the PBW vets help me out?

My other question is, do we need the TDM Modpack if we have no alien races? Or does it help with the ministers when we miss a turn?

Thanks!

Mephisto
April 30th, 2002, 05:19 PM
The game will only be processed when every turn is up however it will nag the "Last" player to upload its file after 48 hours have passed (in fact it will nag you after 44 hours that the regular turn time is supposed to be 48 hours). If you do not upload your turn, nothing will happen.
You don't need the TDM-ModPack as all the Ai scrip files are on the PBW server. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

i think the major problem is that the tdm-mod from the cd was not the right Version.

other than that it is easy.

Just unzip the file to its own directory off the root of seiv gold and then change the path to reflect the tdm-mod pack or use the mod picker program.

Download the new ship sets people are using and place them in the pictures/races directory.

thats it.

quote:

Winzip is one of many software packages that deals with zip files.

Zip files are what as known as archive files. There are many different types of archives, but zip is far and away the most common one on the web.

An archive is essentially a file which is made up of lots of other files, all packaged up into one easy- to handle bundle (like putting a load of loose objects into a box for easy transportation) .

Archives usually use horribly complicated mathematical algorythms to reduce the amount of disk-space that data takes up as well, saving download times and Hard Drive space. But you don't really need to know that bit.

That probably will make a difference. To prevent cheating, SEIV prevents players in multiplayer games from changing their data files or (I think) using different files to one-another.
