Getting a "Scan line index out of range" error. I noticed in a different thread Fyron mentioned this is related to the image pack mod and being the image mod thread, wondering if anybody else has experienced this.

Using:

SE4G 1.91 patch
Fresh install of SE4G

Only mods are image mods (as follows):
Combat v10
Component v22
Event v2
Facility v11
Planets v9
Image Mod - Mod

When are you getting it, and which file?

Also, have you tried opening the minis with paint to make sure they're not corrupted?

Could someone answer me one question regarding the most excellent Quadrant mod/Image Mod, installing them both into my own mod.

I have already installed the Quadrant Mod, it works accept of course no images. I installed this Mod to the TDM Mod, as I plan to use that as a base, sort of. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I downloaded all the files for the image mod, including some extra ones. Events, Planets, Combat, etc. My confusion and problems happens when I try to copy the data to my Mod folder, and it over writes the Quadrant Mod data. I must be missing something? DO I copy these data files to my default directory then?

Rookie Modder here of obviously, but I am dedicated to SEIV. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Thanks for any help you Professional Modders can give me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

The combat pack goes into se4\pictures\combat
The planets pack goes into se4\pictures\planets
The component pack goes into se4\pictures\components

...and so on...

You don't need to put a copy of the image packs into the mod folders, since they are designed to be fully backwards compatible with stock.
Especially since the whole thing is 50+ megs installed, more than one copy would be expensive.

Eh? The Image Mod has no data files. Are you refering to the Imagemod Mod, which is a modification of the stock data files to use the Image Mod images? It is in no way required to use the Image Mod images in other mods.

I am back to bug you with some more questions hopefully I can resolve this one small issue I am still having. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Almost every warp point is not completely drawn on my screen. I say almost, because some of them show up, it is the common normal warp holes that are not complete. They are missing the color swirl pattern that is around all of them. Along with this odd thing, when I go to the battling screen sometimes, where a planet should be I see this HUGH Warp point that is incomplete. The wire frame is showing up around the edges of the unfinished WP. They are a solid blue color. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif I know it has something to do how I installed the quadrant mod and the image mod. I just have no idea what it is exactly.

I hope I explained this well enough and you know the problem right off. If not then I am going to be pulling my hair out for a bit. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

It sounds to me like you are trying to use a map generated with one secttype.txt file in a mod that has a differetn secttype.txt file. A map made with stock SE4 data files trying to be used in FQM Deluxe would cause this problem.

" But are you using FQM Deluxe data files with that map? You must use the mod to play on a map generated with it."

I installed the FQM Deluxe in the new TDM-Modpack 3.40 beta that I am using to base my Mod on. I generate a map before I start a game to get max systems I can. What do I need to change to fix this one little problem then?

Sorry to keep bugging you, but I MUST HAVE FQM and Image Mod in my own Mod, it will suck otherwise. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I am thinking that you generated the map with a different set of data files than you are trying to use it with. Are you using the Map Editor.

How did you combine FQM with TDM? Did you overwrite the appropriate files from FQM over the files in the new mod?

Yes, I overwrote the files, I even added in the extra eye candy files, I tried with and without. Same little glitch. Dude, I have read everything I could find on this or I would not be bugging you at all.

The odd thing, is that whenever there is a WP that can do damage, it shows up. The normal WP are the ones that do not show up. This is the real confusing thing about it.

I added in the files exactly as you state in your instructions for combining the two. Got me whats wrong, my partner knows a lot about this, and she is not able to figure it out either. It does the same thing on her system. Odd thing no one else ever had this happen. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Who should I contact about adding images to the PlanetPack? I've got 62 new planet images to have added, every atmosphere, every size (excluding obvious ones, like None/Gas, etc). They're saved as 128x128 .bmp's. Total size would be just below 3 MB (uncompressed). Whoever looks after this sort of stuff, if you could contact me somehow, I'd be appreciative.

Suicide Junkie

The armor levels look great.
If there is one thing I'd change, it would be to make the nuclear warhead a touch more scary. Glowy bits, mainly. Common people have an irrational fear of radiation and glowing things.

The current nukeular missiles can be used for the explosive ones.

On a totally different topic, would it be cool to have the portraits not be the same as the minis?
Instead of being just a high rez version of the mini, what if the portraits were all made to be action shots? For example, the portrait of an APB, would be a ship firing a big purple beam at an enemy.
Perhaps even animated for SE5.

Fyron

Personally, I'd prefer high res versions of the minis. Why should an APB portrait be forced to use a purple color laser? You can't hardly use a different beam animation with that component image without redoing the portrait, which is quite contrary to the whole point of the Image Mod, as I see it.

What folder do you install the ImageModMod to?

Ed Kolis
February 1st, 2006, 03:00 PM
The ImageModMod can be unzipped anywhere and referenced via Path.txt, but mods are typically installed to the SE4 folder. (I like to place them all in a Mods subfolder just to avoid cluttering up the SE4 folder though.)
Note that the ImageModMod does not contain any actual images; it merely alters the stock game so that many components and such are replaced with new ones from the ImageMod, which comprises 5 separate archive files. Each of the 5 files in the ImageMod proper should be extracted to its corresponding folder under the Pictures directory, e.g. the Combat Pack goes in SE4\Pictures\Combat.
Hmmm... Maybe someone should make an installer for the ImageMod... tell it where your SE4 game is installed and off to go! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Fyron
February 1st, 2006, 03:26 PM
Or you can get the (slightly outdated) complete archive from SE4 Files Tracker or the SEnet mirror and just point the exe at your root se4 folder. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
