Atrocities, I did two Versions, one with and one without the spec-ops badge. Also, I played with the time delay between the anim loops. I can tweak the timing more if you think it's too fast.
(fyi the pic without the badge has a 1 sec delay while the other has a 1.5 sec delay.)

P.S. Gif MovieGear also has the ability to resize/rescale gifs. I scaled down the gif you sent to 46 pixels high before exporting the strip. That simple function saves me a lot of time to say the least.

I used a demo Gif Program that I found at http://download.com I think its call Gif Anamator.

30 day trial.

I really like the idea of being able to make gif like movies. To bad more games don't incorp the idea.

Think of it, rotating ship hulls in SEIV, or rotating planets and suns. Oooooooooowwwwwww - components and facilities too.

With this new format all you need to do is right click on an avatar, select 'copy shortcut' then paste it into the 'avatar url link' in your profile. (does this make things simpler?)

Hey David, Could you find or make spinning planets like the ones in BOTF? Those were cool, and I have tore the program apart trying to find them with no luck.

I did look for spinning planets a while back, but Earth is the only one I have found so far that looked half decent. If you know of, or find a source for spinning planet anims let me know. I'm not about to manually create spinning planets, or spend time creating and scripting anims in povray just for a few avatar pics.

..this one for example is 72k in size, compared to my normal avatars (3k) that's a lot bigger. even the animated avatars I have previously done are usually 20k or less. So I wonder if it's really worth the time and space? (fyi, I did a test removing every second frame in this jupiter anim and it looked a bit jerky and only saved some 11k on the file size.)

If the color in white light is gray, its color in orange light would be orange; there isn't anything inherently wrong with the image, Fyron - it could simply be a matter of ambiant light levels - sunset on an alien world, perhaps.

Any chance of some Space: Above and Beyond Avatars? For those of you that dont know, this was an entertaining SciFi show that pitted Humanity against a race of aliens - good space opera kind of stuff. If you do get a chance it is worth watching.

David, I was kinda hoping for an avatar of the Space fighter that they use in the show - called the Hammerhead. There are a range of pics out there of it and here are a couple of good websites to start with:

Grandpa -

1) Go to the Avatar Emporium and right-mouse-click on the pic you want to use. When the menu pops up, select "Save Picture As..." and save it to your home computer.

2) Upload that avatar picture to the Forums.

3) Click on "my profile" here at the top right corner of the Forum screen.

4) Click on the "View/Update Profile" link under "My Profile:Grandpa Kim" on the left-hand side.

5) Pan down to where the avatar image would be displayed in your profile page, then click the link "Select a Different Avatar Image"

6) An Avatar window will pop up; in this window, enter the url you got when you uploaded the avatar picture to the Forums. Then hit the button "Set URL". The avatar should appear in the upper left corner of the pop-up window. Hit "Select this Avatar" and close the window.

7) the Avatar should now appear in your Update profile page. If not, refresh it. Then hit the "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the page.

Your new avatar should appear the next time you post or edit a message.

GW, it is not necessary to download (save picture) then re-upload it to shrapnel.

1) Simply take note of the filename when you choose 'save picture as'(ie: 1039607074.gif)

2) Right click on any of my more recent avatars and choose 'Copy shortcut'

3) Past the link in your profile (ie: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newuploads/12345678.gif)

4) Change the file name to match the avatar you noted above. (should look something like this.. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newuploads/1039607074.gif)

5) apply the changes and you should have a new avatar.

Simple eh?
