But he's know for the part of his life that sucked. See below comment by Puke for convenient anecdotal evidence.

There was definitely a period of Job's life that sucked big time, no lo contendre on that aspect. However he wasn't so much a loser as temporarily cursed. I don't believe hard times necessarily make a person a loser; I think there's more to it than that.

Mind you, it is a matter of word definitions on this aspect, and people can disagree on those rather easily, with no difinitive way to determine who is right. You might consider him a loser, I don't think the label is appropriet. We dissagree? Happens; I suppose it doesn't exactly matter much, does it?

... or your Cache is set to a smaller size than 3.3mb and the avatars just didn't fit.

How to use an avatar..

1) right click on the image of the avatar you want. (lower in the thread)

2) select "copy shortcut"

3) go to your profile page. (by clicking on the "my profile" link at the top left of the forum page)

4) select "view/update profile".

5) scroll down the page a bit and click on the link called "Select a different avatar image" (It's just above the 'Signature' text entry box)

6) A new window will open and near the botton is a window called "Use Custom URL" Delete any old info in this window and then press ctrl+v to paste the new avatar URL

7) Click on the set URL button. (you should see your avatar appear in the top left of the window)

8) Click on the "Select this Avatar" button beside the pic and close the window if it does not do so itself.

9) Scroll to the bottom of your profile page and click on the "Update Profile" button.

10) come back here and edit one of your Posts or make a new post to see your new avatar in action.

As I was looking through your avatar emporium I started to think back to a time when, before you came on-board, all of our avatars where so dull and repetitive. As such I have decided to keep this avatar. It may not fit as well as it did before, but it has a great deal of sentimental value to me. 1) right click on the pic above and select "Copy Shortcut"
2) Go to your profile (the 'my profile' link at the top of the forum page.)
3) Select "view/update profile"
4) click on the "Select a different Avatar image" link beside your current pic.
5) A new window will open, on the bottom of this new window there is a text field called 'Use Custom URL'. Delete the info within this text field and while your cursor is still active within the field. press Ctrl+v to paste the new avatar URL you grabbed.
6) click the "Set URL' button beside the text field with your new link.
7) in the upper left click on the "Select this Avatar" button.
8) close this window if it doesn't close automatically. then scroll down and click on "Update Profile"
9) post a new message in the avatar forum to activate your new avatar.

A guy and a girl standing under a blue light looking upwards. It might be a Louis Royo, or some other such artist.

A good deal of the avatars came from alt.binaries.pictures.fantasy-sci-fi or other such 'Fantasy Art' sites on the net.

Sorry that I don't have any more specific info on your avatar, perhaps someone else recognizes the pic?

Because ever since the upload forum has been down, I have not been able to update my emporium. Ok, something wierd is happening,.. I go to the se4 scenario/mod forum and post a message, ask to 'preview/add file' upload an avatar.. click on the link to the 'attachment' grab the link (ctrl+c) and then come here and post the link as an image.. I then went back and deleted the useless post in the mod forum, and all seemed well.

I did this with looser's avatar. and all seems well...

I repeated this procedure for the 'rodainian' avatar (aka Greedo) and it looks ok, but when I go back and delete the useless temporary post in the mod forum, the avatar pic posted here dissapears. What's going on?

Why would it delete the second, and third (second appempt) avatar rodain.gif but keep the original loosernew1.gif?

I switch to my elmer fud voice.. Something werry werry strange iz going on here.

Any ideas?

This is odd....I looked for my avatar in your Emporium David, and I could not find it. It either was removed somehow, or it was one of the 2 that did not load. The first was "Raging Deadstar" so I doubt that's it, the other was "742", which may be it. I dunno.

I've always wanted to browse the Emporium for something a little more individual, but clicking on the link in your sig just takes me to the sample page. How do I get there?

Or could you make one for me? Something distinguished and slightly Tolkien-esque in flavor?

P.S. I'm a little busy now, but if you find a pic you want me to transform into an avatar, I could do that. When I have a pic, it just takes a few mins to grab, reduce, frame and post it.

Most were found on the net and resized/framed to fit my avatar design. It sure is fun hunting, you'd be amazed at what neat stuff I find when I do some google 'image searches'

You would have to upload it Somewhere then, and use the link for your avatar on that other forum. However, some file hosters prevent this (it is usually called remote-linking I think). Tripod among others ban it, and will display a nice "File hosted by Tripod" picture if you try to use a file hosted on their server as avatar.

Right-click your avatar here and select properties. Highlight the address with the mouse and press ctrl+C to copy it. Then go to the other forum, find the place to enter the URL of your avatar, and paste.

This could however be a problem for Shrapnel, as you would be using their bandwidth for another forum. How problematic it is would depend, of course, of how many times avatars are displayed on another forum, and on whether Shrapnel has bandwidth-related problems.

On another site where I used to be involved, we had to shut down this sort of service because many of our avatars were used on other forums, creating in the end a major bandwidth usage.
