Default Another favorable Dom2 review - PC Gamer magazine (US)

I just got my PC Gamer and the review (by highly respected wargaming reviewer and columnist William Trotter) does a nice job of focusing on the game's incredible detail and outstanding gameplay, and gives it a score of 87%, which is excellent in itself, and especially so for a magazine which rarely scores anything above 92. So of the three major US PC gaming magazines, Dom2 has received good reviews in all three.

Also, finnish gaming magazine Pelit gave Dominions II 90 of the 100 points. The reviewer had experience with Dominions I though, so he was already hooked.

EDIT: this was in february, but I was too lazy to post it.

I'll admit it. I bought Dom2 based on an article/review I read in a gaming magazine about 6 weeks ago.

I read this Last night. A fair, balanced review - not quite as fawning as the CGW review a couple months back (incidentally, CGW ran a correction this month that belatedly gave Dom2 an "Editor's Choice" icon, something it should have had automatically based on the 4.5 star review).

Trotter correctly points out the flaws in the game (interface, micro-management issues late in the game) while being surprisingly lenient on the graphics. I suppose because he usually review hex-based wargames, the “static sprite” nature of the battles didn’t bother him. He did have high praise for the developers and mentioned that only a two-man development team could have possibly gotten a game like this out nowadays.

The sub-headline was something clever. Maybe "you don't play this game, you mate with it for life". I can't remember now.

Anyway, an 87% for PC Gamer is damned good.

That is nothing. In Pelit, with big font on the first page (of the two) of review, "May your Kingdom come". Just brilliant! The sub-headers were great, too. "Our father in game" for pretender creation, and hilarious "let your turn come" when they mentioned PBEM-possibility...

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I really like that review and especially those headers. Even though I wouldn't have used them myself.
