Re: Power of Astral Corruption
Attack chance and ferocity (lesser horror versus doom horror, say) depends on how much non-blood magical resource was used, I think. Casting a global with quadruple normal cost for boosting would probably draw a doom horror, while making trinkets might be relatively safe.
Attacks occur after forging/cast, if memory serves, so that even if an item forger is killed the item will still be in the lab. Not bad if your forging mage is an immortal like a demilich.

Re: Power of Astral Corruption
Astral Corruption is great when you're leading in terms of magic, have a sufficient supply of forged items, and want to lock things down in their current condition. Almost any global cast will draw a Doom Horror and it stops people from casting or forging anything that they really don't need. Would Returning save you from an attack? I haven't tried that.

Re: Power of Astral Corruption
Returning would save you unless the horror kills you in the initial attack, I believe. Don't recall doom horror stats off the top of my head, but I wouldn't bank on it...

You wouldn't act before the horror?

Re: Power of Astral Corruption
At first I thought you meant Ritual of Returning, and it seems Igahalli did the same... I think Returning would do it.

I wonder if it's worth casting... What's the chance of mages being attacked by Horrors like ?

Quote:
Astral Corruption : every mage has between 33 and 50% chance of having some kind of Horror. For multi-path rituals and items, each non-Blood path is checked independently and could lead to a separate attack. The attack occurs after the forged item is dropped in the inventory, so if it is a disposable mage, you may not care... but if it is a ritual, it may not stay up for very long. The number of gems used -including gems for boosting a ritual- appears to affect both the probability of attack and the size of the horror that appears.

I got that from Zen's dominions library site.
