quickness attack bonus?

I always thought that quickness gives a defense bonus, but not an attack bonus.

I recently noticed some units gaining both defense and attack bonusses. Their quickness was the result of the spell, not a blessing or item effect.

Is this supposed to happen?

If so, the quickness spell is a helluh of a lot better than the bless/item quickness...
