				 Demons and Undead
We all know what the meaning of Undead is, and we all know what Demons are.
Where the line is blurry is what Demons and Undead ARN'T compared to each other.

Example, will the spell Rigor Mortis work on a demon as it will NOT work on undead?

Also usually it will say magic can be negated but Rigor Mortis doesn't say that so I take it that magic resistance does NOT come into play here.

 OK, now #2

Solar Brilliance says it will Inciderate Both Undead and Demons.

So it begs the question what is the difference for battle spells between UNdead and Demons?

Are Demons treated almost as a human though stronger and have powers?

 Its late...sorry

				 Re: Demons and Undead
 Some summary...Demons:
 - are all beinhs having demon icon in their description
 - are living beings
 - require undead leadership
 - have 100% darkvision
 - can be banished
 - are affected by special 'demon only' spells like Blood Lust (such spells have description they affect demons only)
 - perhabs there's something else I missed

Rigor Mortis affects all but undead - this means it affects all the units that do not have Undead icon in their description. Demons do not have undead icon -> they are affected by Rigor Mortis.

				 Re: Demons and Undead
actually that was a great post Winged.
I think a Sticky with the following definitions would be VERY USEFUL

(I don't claim all the following are right

Mindless: Will route at turn 50
Lifeless: Will not regen, or heal except magical lifeless will in a province with a lab.
 Undead
 Demon
Immobile: Can't patrol outside castle, can't gate, or teleport.
Regen: Only works on living creatures
 Magical:
 Sacred
 Blessed
 Berserk

 Etc.

				 Re: Demons and Undead
AFAIK, lifeless = "will not regen from spells/items," but at least one lifeless creature regenerates (clay men) so I'm not sure what the real rules are.

 Yeah, Lifeless =/= Never Heals.
Lifeless says the unit is immune to certain (externally applied) spells and effects, presumably including regeneration. Innate regeneration would apparently be okay though.

				 Re: Demons and Undead
another important difference, perhaps implied in "are living beings" is that demons have encumbrance. |

				 Re: Demons and Undead
Shadow Vestals are not true undead in that they have living bodies inhabited by a living spirit and a dead spirit and that same thing leaves them vulnerable to anti-undead attacks. That's the in-world explanation, game mechanics don't cover half-undead units except via shapechange. |
