In the exe itself. Its not encrypted text so you can easily see it with a viewer. The various text parts of the game are mostly grouped together so finding one name will find you all of the names in that commander-type (thats how the names are grouped)

Someone with a linux system can easily pull it for you with the strings command.

Hello, and thank your for your answers.

I tried to use modding commands, but all I managed to get what the possibility to put a name from a culture group, not for example choose in the list of all c'tissian names the one I want to use.
Is that possible to do with modding commands ?

This seems to be a good solution. But what do you call a viewer ?

The only way you can do it is use either name group 127 or 128, clear them, add only the one name you want and assign that to a unit. Otherwise you're stuck to renaming the commander after recruitment.
