The intrinsic skullcap would only give its armor value and no other bonuses. The tartarian chain would strike as a real tartarian chain, but it would not give any other bonuses to its wielder if it had any.

Ah, thanks, that makes the whole business a hell of a lot less hassle. No need to start putting a bazillion special abilities into the list.

Just noticed that there are two types of Tartarian Chains, one with enslavement effect (the artifact), and one without (that the Tartarian Spirit monster uses), so I guess that pretty much takes care of that.

By the way, what's with the identical weapons in different number slots? E.g. Bite (20) and Bite (322) are completely identical, though 322 seems only to be assigned to rather large monsters and 20 to smaller ones (except the dragons, who have 20). Just a holdover from something or accidental overlap?

I suspect the different bites (and possibly different claw 'weapons') actually have different stats. At least, I know I've seen where most bite and claw attacks have a damage rating along of the lines of -1, but I think I've seen a couple critters with the same attack name, but damage +2 or some such.

Endoperez, I'm already using that particular list as template for a Unit_ID type file on weapons and armor. It's missing some weapons and quite a few armors, but works quite nicely so far.

Cainehill, yes, most of the different claw weapons have different stats from each other, and so do the other bite weapons (there are 5 total), but 20 and 322 are identical even in the stats. Believe me, I've had cause to find out when I was making first the Unit_ID file and now the W&A DB.

There is a mighty roar to accompany the 322 bite. Just a flavour thing.
